The UWELL Caliburn G5 is the newest device in the Caliburn family: a refillable pod kit with a 1600 mAh battery, up to 35 W of power, a small colour screen, and a tap-anywhere control. It's $47.99 CAD at Supa Vapes and comes in seven colours. Here's what's worth knowing before you buy — the specs, the pods, and how it stacks up against the G4 Pro and G5 Lite — including the three things Caliburn customers ask us most at the counter: battery life, pod lifespan, and whether it's worth upgrading from a G4.

What is the UWELL Caliburn G5?

The Caliburn G5 is a refillable pod vape with a 1600 mAh battery, up to 35 W of output, and a 0.85" colour screen. The body is a single moulded piece with a raised metal frame. It ships with three pods and charges over USB-C at 5V/2A.

The party trick is the tap control: tap the body three times — anywhere — and it switches modes, themes or screen brightness. No buttons, no digging through menus. Each of the seven colours comes with a matching screen theme. Since the G5 landed in our stores in early June, Aurora Feathers has been the first colour to sell down.

What pods and coils does the Caliburn G5 use?

The G5 takes Uwell's CALIBURN GPP pods — 2 mL and 3 mL, in 0.4 Ω, 0.6 Ω, 0.9 Ω and 1.2 Ω — plus the newer GPP Alpha range in the same sizes and resistances. In the box you get three pods: two standard GPP (0.4 Ω and 0.6 Ω) and one GPP Alpha (0.6 Ω).

The big change is the new Alpha pod. Uwell says its AlphaCore wicking lasts 17 or more refills with the flavour holding steady — roughly double a standard pod. Take that as Uwell's number, not a promise: pod life always depends on what you fill it with and how hard you run it. Still, pod lifespan is one of the questions we hear most about Caliburns, and the Alpha pod is Uwell's answer to it.

All the pods refill from the top, and Uwell Caliburn GPP Replacement Pods are $24.95 for a 4-pack at Supa Vapes, in all four resistances.

What e-liquid works best in the Caliburn G5?

Both work — freebase and salt nic. The resistance you pick decides the style: 0.9 Ω and 1.2 Ω pods suit salt nic e-liquids and a tighter, cigarette-style draw, while 0.4 Ω and 0.6 Ω pods run warmer and airier, where freebase shines.

If you're not sure where to start, a 0.9 Ω pod with a 10–20 mg/mL salt is a good starting point.

Caliburn G5 vs G4 Pro vs G5 Lite: what's the difference?

The G4 Pro still has the biggest battery (2000 mAh) and a full touchscreen. The G5 answers with the tap control, the longer-lasting Alpha pods and a sleeker one-piece body at 1600 mAh. The Caliburn G5 Lite is the simple stick: LED light instead of a screen, one pod in the box. All three top out at 35 W and take GPP pods.

To be fair to the older devices: the G5's battery is smaller than the G4 Pro's, the screen isn't touch, and at $47.99 it's at the top end for a pod kit. What you get back is the Alpha pods, the tap control, and the newest hardware in the line. If your G4 Pro still works, you don't need to switch — the strongest reason to upgrade is if you're tired of how often you replace pods. How long does the Caliburn G5 battery last?

Battery life is the question we get most at the counter, so here's the short version: for typical use, the 1600 mAh battery gets most people through a full day on one charge — a Caliburn usually runs well below its 35 W maximum. The screen shows your exact charge level instead of a vague light, and short USB-C top-ups are quick at 5V/2A.

If you just want the biggest battery in the Caliburn family and don't care about the newer pods or controls, that's the G4 Pro's 2000 mAh — see the table above.

FAQ

What pods does the Caliburn G5 take?

CALIBURN GPP and GPP Alpha pods in 2 mL and 3 mL, across 0.4 Ω, 0.6 Ω, 0.9 Ω and 1.2 Ω. The kit comes with three pods (two GPP, one Alpha), and we stock 4-pack refills in all four resistances.

How long does a GPP Alpha pod actually last?

Uwell says 17+ refills with the flavour holding steady — about double a standard GPP pod. Real life depends on your e-liquid (sweeter juice wears coils faster) and how hard you run the device, so treat 17 as a best case, not a promise.

Is the Caliburn G5 better for salt nic or freebase?

It handles both. Higher-resistance pods (0.9–1.2 Ω) with salt nic give a tighter, cooler draw, like a cigarette pull. Lower-resistance pods (0.4–0.6 Ω) with freebase give warmer, airier vapour. That flexibility is the whole point of the GPP pod system.

Should I upgrade from a Caliburn G4 Pro?

Not automatically. The G4 Pro still has the bigger battery and a touchscreen. Upgrade if you want the longer-lasting Alpha pods, the tap control, or the new body — or if your G4 is simply worn out.
